PROVIDING THE HIGHEST STANDARD OF CANCER & INFUSION CARE
At St. Luke's Cancer & Infusion Center, we provide the most leading-edge thinking and world-class treatment found anywhere on the globe, all in the familiar setting of your home community. With Dr. Joe Stephenson at the helm, we've greatly expanded our oncology and hematology services for Polk County. As one of the top oncologists in the nation, he profoundly knows the practice of oncology and hematology and is very involved in cancer research at the molecular level (the science behind the therapy).
Oncology is multi-disciplinary and having the right team is paramount. Evidence-based medicine drives the practice. If you know the evidence, the treatment is straightforward. Dr. Stephenson says that "Local is always better." A Cancer diagnosis involves a team. That team includes family, healthcare providers, and community support. We all play a vital role in caring for the patient through this process. St. Luke's now offers total oncological medical care in concert with surrounding tertiary-level providers.
Dr. Stephenson points out that "If you have a cancer diagnosis of any kind, please ask your healthcare provider for a referral to see me. I can personally direct your course of care here locally. And for additional care not offered on the St. Luke's campus, I can coordinate your treatment with my colleagues at nearby providers."
Choose to stay close to home with a referral from your attending physician or make an appointment yourself. Our center features four comfortable individual bays and two private treatment rooms for chemotherapy, IV therapy, or blood transfusions. Floor-to-ceiling views of nature provide peaceful surroundings, but flat-screen televisions are available for distraction if needed during treatments.
Patients from "around the world" have traveled to see Dr. Stephenson, and now you can see him right here in Polk County, NC! Chemotherapy-certified nurses, pharmacists, and advanced care practitioners provide exceptional patient care and attentive treatment in a comfortable and welcoming environment.
