George Azar, MD

Thomas Cadier, MD

Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Surgery

As the regional leader in providing world-class orthopedic surgery, St. Luke's Orthopedic and Sports Medicine has established an excellent reputation for performing successful hip and custom-fit knee replacements. Our successful outcomes result in much shorter hospital stays and greatly improved recovery.

Intending to revolutionize recovery time and post-op pain for their active-minded patients, St. Luke's Dr. George Azar, and Dr. Thomas Cadier, take pride in the excellent patient experience. Our team includes two physician assistants and nurse navigators working with dedicated perioperative nursing and rehab staff to ensure consistent patient outcomes.

Patients travel to St. Luke's from across the country for orthopedic surgery. Both Dr. Azar and Dr. Cadier have performed several hundred knee, hip, shoulder, and sports medicine procedures. Their protocol and rehabilitation have dramatically decreased infection, post-op pain and recovery with minimal incisions, using no staples or stitches. As a result, there is a reduced risk of dislocation, blood loss, tissue damage, and muscle trauma.

Custom-Fit Total Knee Replacement

St. Luke's was also one of the first hospitals in the southeast (and the first in NC!) to provide customized total knee replacement. This surgery provides patients with newfound, pain-free mobility for baby boomers, retirees, sports nuts, and the injured. Male, female, large or small, a custom fit knee replacement means these patients have a tailor-made replacement that fits like a glove.

This custom procedure offers tremendous benefits to patients, including a quicker, less painful recovery, increased range of motion, a more "natural" feeling knee, and greater ease in performing normal living activities such as golfing, biking and gardening.

Great Outcomes and Excellent Care for High Patient Satisfaction

In addition to successful outcomes for knee, hip, shoulder problems, general fractures, and sports injuries, and our surgeons have very high patient satisfaction ratings because of their demeanor and willingness to help patients understand complicated medical conditions and procedures. Patients also appreciate the personal attention from the pre-op preparation class to their hospitalization and follow-up office visit.
