Rehab Center Education Series at St. Luke's Hospital Talks Balance, Vertigo
COLUMBUS, NC - St. Luke's Hospital Rehabilitation Services will shed light on balance and dizziness for the April installment of its ongoing Rehab Education Series on Wednesday, April 27. Jamie Cehlar, DPT, will provide an in-depth look at balance, vertigo, and dizziness as they affect one's health, 1-3 p.m. in the hospital boardroom. Light refreshments will be provided, and registration is required.
According to a medical study published in 2015, people in the U.S. see their doctor for dizziness and vertigo as often as they do for headaches and back pain. Ms. Cehlar will discuss the signs and complications of these common issues of imbalance, as well as how to treat them.
"Imbalance, vertigo, and dizziness are common for all ages, but especially as you get older," Scott McDermott, OT, Director of Rehabilitation Services at St. Luke's Hospital, said. "These aren't issues that most people think about, but they are issues that we deal with extensively in the Rehab Center. We think it's really important to have this conversation with our community."
The lecture is part of St. Luke's Rehab Center's 2016 education series that will continue through the end of the year. Next month, the Center will discuss LSVT BIG® and LOUD® for Parkinson's Patients on Wednesday, May 11, for the continuation of the series. Other sessions on back and neck pain, living with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), and repetitive stress injuries are scheduled for the coming months.
Registration is required for all Rehab Education Series sessions. To register, or for more information, call (828) 894-8419 or visit St. Luke's Hospital Rehab Center at 101 Hospital Drive in Columbus, NC.
