Rehab Tech - Part-time/Days: Physical Therapy
Position: Rehab Tech - Part-time/Days: Physical Therapy
Location: Columbus, NC

St. Luke’s Hospital has a new opportunity for a Rehab Tech for our Physical Therapy Department! Our hospital is one of very few critical access hospitals in the country that earned 5-Stars in patient satisfaction from CMS in 2020 and we need YOU to help us get to the next level! In this role, you will be part of a progressive team dedicated to advancing the goals of the hospital, meeting the needs of our rural community, and providing outstanding care to our patients. Essential Functions:
-Schedules new and existing patients.
-Registers new and existing patients into the EMR computer system in the absence of the Rehab Administrative Assistant.
-Patient insurance information is collected and photo-copied for all patient charts as needed.
-Patient demographics are updated as appropriate in the EMR computer system.
-Insurance information is verified and appropriate information is reported to each patient's evaluating therapist and the patient in the absence of the Rehab Administrative Assistant.
-Obtains Prior Authorization from insurance companies as needed for Outpatients.
-Demonstrates courtesy and helpfulness towards all patients and their families both on the phone and in-person.
-Patients are informed of any possible delays in a timely manner.
-Notifies therapists of "No Shows" and cancellations.
-Voice mail messages are communicated to the appropriate person within 30 minutes of receiving the message and/or calls are returned within 30 minutes during business hours.
-Sends and receives faxes correctly.
-Attempts to schedule new patients within 5 hours of receiving a new order.
-Interacts professionally with physicians, patients/visitors, co-workers and others.
-Obtains a licensed therapist or therapist assistant when someone requests information that is beyond the PT Tech scope of practice.
-Follows Service Recovery policies when needed.
-Reschedules patients and staffing at the direction of the Department Manager or his/her designee.
-Assists with outpatient chart organization as needed.
-Calls patients who have missed appointments to verify schedules as needed.
-Assists the Rehab Administrative Assistant with managing Plan’s of Care, Updated Plans of Care, prescriptions and treatment visit tracking to meet regulatory guidelines and Corporate Compliance guidelines.
-The Rehab Department is maintained in a neat and orderly manner at all times.
-Temperature checks are documented daily for paraffin baths, refrigerators, and hydrocollators and the HydroTrack.
-Maintenance problems are called in to the hospital engineering department and followed-up as needed.
-Supplies are adequately stocked for both the Inpatient and Outpatient areas.
-Regularly cleans and disinfects all Rehab Equipment and patient care areas.
-Cleans the HydroTrack tank per equipment and departmental specifications at least once weekly.
-Assists all therapists with patient care and preparation as needed.
-Assists with patient transfers, ambulation, treatment and safety at the direction of clinical staff as needed.
-Organizes rehab equipment in the Rehab Department, storage areas and other designated areas within the hospital.

Required knowledge, skills, and abilities:
1. High School graduate or equivalent.
2. Completion of an on-the-job training program.
3. CNA certification is not required but preferred.
4. Able to effectively communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.
5. Additional languages preferred but not required.
6. Computer knowledge, familiar with scheduling, word-processing and spreadsheet programs.
7. Ability to type.
8. Ability to lift, push, pull, lift and assist with patient transfers.
9. Educated on and compliant with HIPAA regulations; maintains strict confidentiality of client information.
10. Complies with Infection Control, Standard Precautions and OSHA standards for the healthcare professional.
11. Able to wear personal protective equipment (e.g., face mask, goggles, latex/non-latex gloves) as needed.
12. Ability to work effectively within role independently and with other team members.
13. Ability to organize and complete work in a timely manner.
14. Ability to read, write and effectively communicate in English.
