Speech Language Pathologist - PRN
St. Luke’s Hospital Criteria Based Performance Standards, Hospital Policies, Joint Commission Regulations and various other laws/regulations require that we assess the ongoing competency of our staff to assure that the staff maintains competency to perform their duties proficiently. Competency evaluation may include tests for knowledge, demonstration of skills and direct observation of performance.

St. Luke's Hospital is looking for a Speech Language Pathologist to work PRN in our Speech Therapy Department. This role provides assessment and treatment of speech, language, and swallowing disorders in patients, whether pediatric, adult, or geriatric, in accordance with ASHA standards. The services provided by the Speech Language Pathologist include, but are not limited to, direct patient care for inpatients and outpatients, patient and family instruction/education, consultation and hospital services. Speech-language pathologists (SLPs) work to prevent, assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, social communication, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders in children and adults. The Speech Language Pathologist will be performing evaluations and treatments related to SLP for all ages.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities include but not limited to:
1. Master's Degree in Speech/Language Pathology from an accredited University is required.
2. Must hold the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
3. Must have current State licensure by the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Speech and Language Pathologists.
4. Must maintain current CPR certification.
5. Must have experience with Modified Barium Swallow Studies.
6. Educated on and compliant with HIPAA regulations; maintains strict confidentiality of client information.
7. Complies with Infection Control, Standard Precautions and OSHA standards for the healthcare professional.
8. Able to wear personal protective equipment (e.g., face mask, goggles, latex/non-latex gloves) as needed.
9. Ability to work effectively within role independently and with other team members.
10. Ability to organize and complete work in a timely manner.
11. Ability to read, write and effectively communicate in English.
12. Ability to understand medical/surgical terminology.
