Clinical Educator - Full-time/Days - 30 hrs/wk
Position: Clinical Educator - Full-time/Days (30 hrs/week)
Location: Columbus, NC

St. Luke’s Hospital has a new opportunity for an experienced Clinical Educator for our Clinical Education Department! Our hospital is one of very few critical access hospitals in the country that earned 5-Stars in patient satisfaction from CMS in 2020 and we need YOU to help us get to the next level! In this role, you will be part of a progressive team dedicated to advancing the goals of the hospital, meeting the needs of our rural community, and providing outstanding care to our patients. Essential Functions:
• Makes educational data available for managers and administration in a meaningful and available format.
• Provides educational opportunities for Clinical Education topics: Develops objectives for each in-service, provides facility credits when appropriate and evaluates presentation and teaching material through staff input and suggestions
• Ability to develop instructional materials
• Reviews patient and staff educational needs and participates in action planning
• Interacts professionally with vendor/manufacturer sales representatives, coordinates equipment demonstrations for Nurse Managers and staff.
• Assists with and organizes house-wide education in-services annually using community resources when possible.
• Assists and acts as a resource to nurse managers in the development of unit specific competencies, recognizes needs for special in-services and continuing education for the nursing and auxiliary staff in the clinical departments
• Maintains a good working relationship both within the department and with other departments. Consults other departments as appropriate to collaborate in patient care, risk management, utilization management and quality management activities.
• Consistently demonstrates a professional, self-directed, mature, disciplined and tactful approach to departmental responsibilities. Listens and communicates effectively.
• Demonstrates the ability to be flexible and organized
• Demonstrates competent clinical skills
• Interpersonal skills necessary to exchange information and maintain courteous relationships with patients, families, visitors, and St. Luke's Hospital teammates.
• Ability to navigate and chart withing the EPIC EHR.
• Knowledge of standards, policies, procedures and organizational structure of the unit and St. Luke's Hospital. To include strict adherence to Time and Attendance policy.
• Makes clinical rounds on a regular basis, assesses each units needs and has the ability to make appropriate decisions, ensures the safe and efficient flow of patient care through the hospital system.
• Effectively communicates with the Infection Preventionist as needed to ensure policy and procedures are followed to ensure the health and safety of staff and patients. Follows the standard for infection control; hand washing, protective eyewear, mask, gown, gloves, head cover, and shoe cover, as appropriate. Proper disposal of contaminated items and the use of isolation.
• Acts as a nursing role model adhering to hospital standards.

Required knowledge, skills, and abilities:
• RN, Licensure in the State of North Carolina or a compact state BSN preferred
• BLS, ACLS, PALS required.
• Instructor status for at least 2 of the following BLS, ACLS, PALs
• Excellent interpersonal communication and negotiation skills
• Strong organizational, analytical, and time management skills
• Strong computer skills
• Competence in establishing rapport with stakeholders, clinical team, clinical managers, physicians and executive staff
• Knowledge of and compliance with federal and state regulations applicable to the position
• Ability to work independently
• Proficient oral and written communication skills with the ability to prioritize duties and delegate responsibilities
• Proficient computer skills to create educational documents.
